General Teacher
The Pro-Vision Academy is a Texas Public Charter School that services students from grades 3-12 in the south side of Houston. We have been living our purpose for over 28 years. We offer academic courses that challenge students. We also pride ourselves in building student character through the relationships we build with students. Our administration and teachers understand through healthy adult interaction and meaningful relationships, we can assist in changing the paradigm and mindset of our families, one student at a time. Our Vision: The vision of the Pro-Vision Academy is to provide a small, safe intimate environment where teachers can more effectively identify and address individual student needs. Through academics, cultural enrichment, professional counseling, life skills training, mentoring, parental involvement, community service, and sports and recreation, student are transformed into intelligent and well-rounded young adults.
Purpose: A General Teacher sets the education expectations and climate for The Pro-Vision Academy and works with the Principal in carrying out the school’s academic and behavior programs. As a professional educator the General Teacher understands and responds to the challenges presented by today’s diverse student population. The General Teacher provides proactive leadership to engage all students in the delivery of programs and services to support the students’ academic achievement, personal and social development. The General Teacher works cooperatively with the principal, counselor, staff, students and parents towards a positive school climate. He/she must demonstrate a commitment to strengthening community engagement and communication with the District’s population.
Responsibilities and Duties:
· Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
· Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive to effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District.
· Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests and abilities of students.
· Plans and supervises purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s).
· Assists in the selection of books, equipment, lab supplies and other instructional materials.
· Instructs students and assigns relevant homework.
· Grades papers, assignments, labs and assessments promptly and accurately.
· Prepares and administers subject/topical specific tests and labs to measure student abilities and
Progress.
· Prepares report cards and progress reports.
· Facilitates conferences with students and parents.
· Completes required paperwork in specified time and manner.
· Designs and implements appropriate instruction of subject assigned in accordance with students’ needs, District curriculum and state standards.
· Prepares, sets-up and cleans-up lab activities.
· Conducts appropriate assessments of students’ work and maintains accurate and regular data on students in areas of attendance, grades and IEP progress, if applicable.
· Supervises students in hallways before, after and between classes, in library, & at special events.
· Assists administration in implementing policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
· Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning the academic and behavioral progress of their students through conferences, written messages, telephone calls and/or e-mail.
· Promptly reports any serious accident or illness affecting students in the teacher’s charge or any incident which might affect the school, teachers or students therein.
· Uses a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the needs and

· Assesses the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and maintains such records as required by law and by District policy.
· Takes all responsible precautions to provide for health and safety of the students and to protect
equipment, materials and facilities.
· Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records and inquiries.
· Maintains appropriate certifications and training hours as required.
· Performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Required Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in required
· Texas Certification preferred
· Three (3) years of teaching experience preferred

· Strong leadership qualities
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Salary Range:
$48,000 to $63,000
Salary is based on Service Records and years of experience.
