A Red Carpet Affair: It's Prom Season at Pro-Vision Academy!
It’s spring at Pro-Vision Academy, which means new growth in the Urban Farm, more outdoor sports and our first co-ed junior/senior prom! It’s time to shine those dancing shoes and polish up on that dinner etiquette. Prom is a wonderful opportunity not only to create lasting memories with friends, but to practice courtesy and decorum. Prom dresses, tuxedos, corsages, pictures, dinner and dancing – prom season is exciting for students and parents alike.
The junior/senior Pro-Vision Academy prom will take place on May 24 at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. The theme for the event is Red Carpet Affair, as voted by our senior class. The celebrity-style event will be decorated by Mrs. Horace, whose two children attend Pro-Vision Academy. We are very excited and thankful to Mrs. Horace for donating her time and efforts to make this year’s prom one to remember.
Beyond the ambiance, our students will also enjoy food and sparkling cider at the occasion. A DJ will be playing music, and one of our own instructors, who is also a professional photographer, will capture the memories.
One of the most defining factors of prom is the attire – a unique opportunity to ditch the everyday jeans in favor of something more glamorous. Pro-Vision Academy encourages our students to dress in their best formal attire, but please note that our standard school dress code is still applicable, as are all other school rules. Bringing a date to the junior/senior prom is allowed, even if that date is not a Pro-Vision student. Dates who are not enrolled at Pro-Vision Academy simply need to be cleared by a school official.
Prom is a special time in a student’s life, but the elegance and glamour that come with it can be costly. We’re very excited to have been approached by Lonestar College System’s Prom Closet this year. The inspiring organization will be giving formal dresses to Pro-Vision Academy’s female upperclassmen attending the fete. These dresses have been graciously donated by individuals who are recycling their own prom dresses and also by donations made by individuals who wanted to support this program. Elise Sheppard Couture, who is also supplying a number of local teenagers with prom dresses this season, informed Pro-Vision of this opportunity. Pro-Vision Academy is grateful for the generosity of all of those involved in making this possible for the young ladies. We are also excited that our students are able to witness first-hand the positive effects of community giving. Community involvement is of utmost importance to us, and we hope that our students will recognize the good that comes out of these efforts and be inspired in turn to give back to others.
We believe that our students will be delighted by this year’s junior/senior prom. It will be the first co-ed event at Pro-Vision Academy, and we look forward to spending the evening with our students as they enjoy their time with dates and friends. We hope they will utilize their best manners throughout the night and behave like the wonderful young ladies and gentlemen that we know them to be. Whether they take a date or attend with friends, a memorable and safe time is sure to be had by all!
